Country's Outstanding Policemen in Service

Cops’ Stories of Heroism Now Online

From police circles to cyberspace. The legendary tales of heroism of the uniformed men and women of the country’s police force are now on the Internet.

The Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) website ( www.cops.com.ph ) features stories of courage, valor and exemplary community service of the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), most notably, awardees of the Search for COPS.

The Search is a career service award that recognizes top policemen/women for their consistent outstanding contributions in preventing and solving crimes through community work and mobilization. It is organized by PSBank, Metrobank Foundation, Inc., the Rotary Club of New Manila East and the PNP.

PSBank, the Philippines’ second largest savings bank, commissioned the design and development of the website to feature inspiring stories – big and small - of men and women in uniform which often go unnoticed.

The COPS website’s home page features laudable stories of cops who made a difference in the communities they serve. It also showcases stories on COPS awardees and the latest articles on the Search for COPS.

The website’s sections include Salute, In Service of the Community, Women’s and Children’s Protectors, PeopleSpeak, and COPS Search.

Salute provides inspiring true stories of the country’s police force in their crime prevention and solution efforts. This section also features COPS awardees and the PCO/PNCO of the week from the TV program TSIP.

In Service of the Community highlights activities that uplift the quality of life of residents in the communities. This section also features nationwide programs such as Pulis Mo, Titser Ko.

Women’s and Children’s Protectors showcase heartwarming stories on how the Women's and Children's Desk has helped, rescued or made a difference in the lives of women and children in the community. PeopleSpeak features comments, suggestions, and commendations on the policemen and women.

COPS Search includes quick facts and frequently asked questions about the competition as well as a gallery of past COPS awardees. A downloadable nomination form is also available to encourage more nominations for the 2009 Search for COPS.

Accomplished nomination forms should be submitted to the nearest Metrobank or PSBank Branch; the Metrobank Foundation Office, 15/F Metrobank Plaza, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City; or at the Directorate for Police Community Relations, PNP General Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City, on or before February 27, 2009.

A maximum of four Commissioned Officers and six non-Commissioned Officers can win in the search. Aside from the honor of being one of the country’s most respected police officers, each of the winners will also receive P250,000 and a trophy.
