Metrobank-Toyota Allots Php 5-M to Tropical Storm Sendong Victims
 

In solidarity with the people of Mindanao and the Visayas, the Metrobank Group and Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) have pooled resources to address the immediate needs of victims of recent calamity. Through his philanthropic arms - the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI), and Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation, Inc. (TMPF), Group Chairman George S.K. Ty has allocated a total of Php 5 million to the ongoing emergency and relief operations in the provinces badly affected.

The Metrobank-Toyota Sendong Calamity Assistance Fund shall be coursed through the local government units of Iligan City in Lanao del Norte, Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental, Dumaguete City and the municipality of Tanjay in Negros Oriental province. Likewise, the Philippine Red Cross and the Department of Health (DOH) shall also be receiving grant assistance to support priority needs of the flood victims.

Metrobank Group Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty who chairs both the Metrobank Foundation Inc. and Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation, Inc., said, “With this donation, we hope that we will be able to assist and somehow alleviate the plight of our fellow Filipinos who were badly affected by tropical storm Sendong”.

For more than 30 years, the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. has been continuously giving financial support to calamity victims both locally and internationally as part of its humanitarian initiatives. This year, it has extended calamity assistance to the victims of typhoon Pedring and Quiel in September. For its part, the Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation Foundation, Inc., the social and humanitarian arm of Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation, a member of the Metrobank Group, has consistently implemented social contribution activities for more than 20 years now.

Earlier this year, both Foundations joined hands in giving Php 10-M donation to the Japanese government in the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the country last March.
