Metrobank Foundation feted yet another batch of promising Filipino artists and designers who won in this year’s Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) national competition in ceremonies held September 12, 2008 at Le Pavillon in Pasay City.

Addressing the guests in his welcome remarks, Metrobank Foundation president Aniceto M. Sobrepreña reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to promote and support Filipino talents through its arts program.

“As we move towards strengthening our advocacy in the arts through the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence, we envision to constantly open doors for our young artists and visionaries to freely express their observation, imagination, creativity, and inspiration,” he said

Leading this year’s awardees are the winners in the Painting competition, namely: Ronald L. Jeresano (grand prize), Dennis T. Atienza (second prize), and John Paul V. Antido (special prize) for the oil on canvass category; and Raffy T. Napay (grand prize) and Janeil B. Arlegui (special prize) in the watermedia on paper category.

The grand prize winners received P200,000 each, while the special prize winners received P150,000. The 2nd and 3rd place in oil painting category on the other hand, brought home P170,000 and P150,000, respectively.
