Metrobank Art & Design Excellence launches its annual art and design competition by elevating the competition to the next level and taking art & design to greater heights. The competition opened the year of the dragon with a big bang of surprises to the art and design community. As part of the celebration of Metrobank’s 50th Anniversary, the cash prize for the competitions have been increased to 300,000 pesos each.
“Our Group Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty decided to upgrade the prizes at Php 300,000 in order to find the best that Filipino talent and creativity has to offer. The competition has gone a long way and we still believe that after 28 years, as key drivers in the art world, we can still push our young artists and designers to go beyond what they think is the limit of their artistry, when in fact, Filipino talent is limitless, timeless. We are optimistic and excited to see inspiring and ardent entries for 2012.” Said Metrobank Foundation president, Mr. Aniceto M. Sobrepeña.
MADE is composed of four competitions in Painting, Sculpture, Interior Design and Architecture. The painting competition is open to amateur artists ages 18 – 35 years old who have not held any solo exhibition. Interested participants may choose to enter one of the two categories under the painting competition: oil on canvas or watermedia on paper. For the sculpture competition, all practicing sculptors who have staged at least one solo exhibition are invited to join. The Interior Design Competition is open to licensed interior designers 25 to 45 years old, while the Architecture Competition is for licensed architects 25 to 50 years old.
MADE is now awarding three (3) grand prize winners of P300,000 for the painting competition and one (1) grand prize winner of P300,000 for each competition: sculpture, interior design and architecture competition. Even after the awarding and recognition, artists are also entitled to be recipients of a grant once they conduct their first solo exhibition, opening more opportunities for the winner. The Metrobank Art & Design Excellence is a 28 year annual art & design competition which aims to promote Filipino art & design by awarding young Filipino artist and designers and launching their careers.
