METROBANK
Foundation chairman Dr. George
S.K. Ty believes that in times
of economic difficulty, the
community must do what they can in
order to uplift the plight of its
citizens. The embodiment of this
resolve to share the fruits of one’s
success with society gave birth to
the Foundation in 1979.
Since its inception, the Foundation
continually assesses the needs of
its target sectors and evolves the
most efficient ways to improve
social conditions. These efforts
have given fruit to the programs
aimed at propagating a culture of
excellence and at rewarding
Filipinos - in different sectors of
society - who have shown this zeal
for exemplary performance.
To bolster this cause for
excellence, the Foundation is
increasing the individual cash
rewards for major Foundation
projects starting July 2006. A total
of over P8 million will be
awarded to the winners of these
programs.
Cash prizes for the
Search for
Outstanding Teachers (SOT) have
increased by P50,000, and winners
will now receive P250,000
each. Awardees of the
Country’s
Outstanding Policemen in Service
(COPS) and
The
Outstanding Philippine Soldiers
(TOPS) – recognized for their
honor, professionalism, gallantry,
integrity – will now be gifted
P200,000 from P150,000.
In support of the country’s future
national artists, the
Metrobank
Arts and Design Excellence (MADE)
annual competition cash prizes were
also increased by P50,000. Top
winners in the painting, sculpture,
interior design, and architecture
will now receive P200,000
each. Additional awards in interior
design will also be given, and the
Metrobank Prize for Achievement in
Sculpture or MPAS will be awarded
P200.000. Awarding ceremonies
will take place sometime September.
In its 27th year, the Foundation
takes great pride in its commitment
and contribution to play a
substantive role in addressing the
many challenges that face the
Filipino people. Dr. Ty recognizes
that, “Be it in education,
healthcare, or the arts, the
Foundation continues to evolve in an
effort to make a difference in the
lives of communities and individuals
with whom we have the good fortune
to serve.” |
