The
2006 Country's Outstanding Policemen
in Service (COPS) Awardees
Called to be the Best: The 2006
Country's Oustanding Policemen in
Service
July 16, 2006
Ten among the thousands of policemen
and women stood out to be named as
the Country's Outstanding Policemen
in Service. Honored for their
gallantry and unwavering service,
the best cops were chosen among the
many who have tried in this year's
search, and will be awarded sometime
July. Their recognition will serve
as inspiration to the rest of the
members of the police force - to
likewise do their best and strive
for excellence in their jobs.
The ten proud outstanding Policemen
in this year's search are: for the
Commissioned Officers Category:
P/Supt. Policarpio P.
Cayabyab JR.,
P/Supt. Tomasito T. Clet, P/Supt. Felicidad R. Gido
and P/Supt. Edgar G. Iglesia

For the Non-Commissioned Offices
Category:
SPO4 Mercedes M. Garcia, PO2 Rodel G. Javison, SPO3 Nestor R. Kahano, PO3 Rosalie D. Somblingo, SPO1 Recto G. Valeriano
and PO3 Tejanne Q. Zarzoso

The Awardees received a cash prize
of P200,000 each and a trophy
courtesy of the Metrobank
Foundation.
The enormous task of selecting the
best among the many who were
nominated rested on the hands of the
Final Board of Judges. Sandiganbayan
Presiding Justice Hon. Teresita J.
Leornardo-de Castro, who chaired
this year's board, was fully
inspired not only with the
roster of winners, but with all the
finalists as well.
Joining her is Congressman Miles M.
Roces of the 3rd District of Manila,
Solicitor General Antonio Eduardo B.
Nachura, Atty. Bienvenido E.
Leguesma, director of the Integrated
Bar of the Philippines - Quezon City
Chapter and Mr. Isagani M. Yambot,
publisher of the Philippine Daily
Inquirer.
"It really struck me that we have
admirable police officers and that
it is really unfair for society to
make generalizations every time that
they hear bad things happening in
our police institution." Hon. de
Castro remarked.
The Foundation and the Rotary Club
of New Manila East award exemplary
Commissioned and Non-Commissioned
Officers with outstanding
achievements in implementing the law
and in mobilizing the community to
maintain peace and order. The search
also highlights the "ONE PNP"
Program of the Philippine National
Police, particularly the
Neighborhood Participation thrust. |
