to
Outstanding Policemen for 2008
February 2009
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo confers the award Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) to ten commissioned and non-commissioned officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in a ceremony held in Malacañang on August 1.
COPS is an annual recognition program organized by Metrobank Foundation, Rotary Club of New Manila East (RCNME) and PSBank in partnership with the PNP to recognize the valor gallantry and integrity of the police community.
For more than 100 nominations of commissioned and non-commissioned officers received nationwide, 10 top policemen were recognized for their career achievements and service to the community. All awardees will receive a trophy and cash prize of P 250,000.00 from the Metrobank Foundation.
This year’s winners are: (Commissioned Officers) Police Superintendent Jonathan Calixto, Police Superintendent Ronald Oliver Lee, Police Superintendent Raynold Rosero and Police Superintendent Alex Sintin, together with (Non-Commissioned Officers) Senior Police Officer 1 Annie Marie Anuary, Senior Police Officer 2 Oscar Bandoy, Police Officer 3 Dandy Ferriol, Senior Police Officer 2 Josefa Lacandula, Senior Police Officer 1 Eman Orivida and Police Officer Anna Liza Reyes.
The winners were chosen by a formidable panel of judges including Galing Pook Executive Director Dr. Eddie Dorotan, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig president and former ambassador Rosalinda Tirona, and Manila Bulletin columnist Julie Yap-Daza. Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo Angara and Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta were co-chairmen of the board of judges.
“PSBank is ptoud to be a part of this search which honors outstanding men and women in uniform whose heroism often goes unnoticed. Our 10 awardees prove that there are countless members of the police force who continue to selflessly serve and protect the people in order to preserve peace and order and ultimately contribute to the task of nation-building,” PSBank president Pascual M. Garcia III said.
COPS winners are considered the police force’s cream of the crop, having been chosen after a stringent selection process that includes documentation of achievements, background check, and panel interview with the distinguished Board of Judges representing various sectors of society. Congressman Angara noted the heroism and commitment displayed by the winners in the accomplishment of their duties.
The Search for the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) recognizes the shared responsibility between the police force and the community in the prevention and resolution of crime.
