Maria Dorothea S. Taniguchi
19 year-old fine arts student at the
University of the Philippines. She
won first place in the 1998 Asia
Poster Making Contest and Newsweek
International's The Earth as a
Canvas Painting Competition in 1996
although this was the first time for
her to join the Young Painters'
Annual. Ms. Taniguchi is YPA's first
female grand prize winner. |

Eugene Q. Jarque
26, is a part-time instructor at the
Technological Institute of the
Philippines. It is his fourth time
to join YPA and his mentor is no
less than former YPA winner Noell
Farol. |
