“Fusion”: The Tan Residence
a 3-storey residential
structure in Talisay City, Cebu
Architect Noel K. Tan
Tan's project, a 3-storey
residential structure in Cebu, is a
product of a synthesis between
native cultural elements and
responsiveness to climate
conditions, between the vernacular
and new ideas, between progression
and conformity, and mostly, between
tradition and modernity.
A graduate of the University of San
Carlos, Tan’s concept and design are
modern, suited for the fast-paced
lifestyle but remains sensitive
towards cultural and environmental
factors. A first time contender in
any architectural design contest,
Tan plans to continually produce
designs that create awareness of the
fusion of architecture’s benefit to
people as well as the environment.
He believes that this would produce
a better-built environment for
people to live comfortably and
securely. |

"Vinta" interior
design concept
Marybeth Tabaquin-Ting
The project utilizes an
approach that intends to create a
setting that is not only pleasing to
the eyes but is also sustainable,
which is achieved by the deliberate
and extensive use of indigenous
materials such as abaca, bamboo and
rattan for natural fiber carpets,
wall treatments and window coverings
of hand loomed fabric.
A Fine Arts graduate at the
University of Sto. Tomas, Ting’s
personal preference in styling is
simple and uncluttered. She likewise
takes into consideration the need,
location and client preference to
tailor fit a design. Ting considers
interpreting information and
preferences and transforming it to
three- dimensional ideas a great
fulfillment. |
