Books on Outstanding Teachers
Launched
July 11, 2005
On the occasion of the 20th
anniversary celebration of The
Metrobank Foundation Search for
Outstanding Teachers, the Foundation
published the book "Ten Outstanding
Filipino Teachers" authored by
award-winning Dr. Queena Lee-Chua,
herself a 2003 Metrobank Foundation
Outstanding Teacher and currently
professor, Ateneo de Manila
University. Full of teaching and
learning tips, "Ten Outstanding
Filipino Teachers is a pioneering
book, which profiles ten selected
outstanding teachers. Among the ten
teachers profiled in the book are
Evelina Vicencio for Elementary,
Josette Biyo and Onofre PAgsanghan
for Secondary and Araceli Villamin
and Milagros Ibe for College,
describing each teacher's
background, best practices and
legacy.
Meanwhile, the Metrobank Foundation
Network of Outstanding Teachers and
Educators (NOTED) also published
"Lessons: Metrobank Foundation
Outstanding Teachers Share Stories
of Hope, Success and Inspiration"
edited by Dr. Jaime An Lim, also a
2003 Search Awardee and currently
Dean of the Institute of Arts and
Sciences, Far Eastern University.
"Lessons" is a small book of about
100 pages brimming with valuable
classroom insights gleaned from a
lifetime of teaching. The
contributors are distinguished
teachers and professors from some of
the leading institutions of learning
in the country.
These informative and inspirational
books are designed for other
teachers, who now and then, may need
reaffirmation of the importance of
their vocation, The books are also
essential for educational
administrators, parents, students,
and everyone who care about
Philippine education.
