Outstanding Teachers Held

Metrobank Foundation recently held
the final interviews for the 21st
Search for Outstanding Teachers.
Twenty finalists from more than 214
nominees from around the country are
vying for the awards.
The Final Board of Judges was
composed of distinguished
personalities representing various
sectors. This year’s final board was
headed by Senator Francis N.
Pangilinan and co-chaired by
Associate Justice Angelina
Sandoval-Gutierrez. Members of the
board include Congressman Rolando G.
Andaya Jr of the 1st District of
Camarines Sur, Mayor Jerry P. Treňas
of Iloilo and President, League of
Cities in the Philippines,
Ambassador Peter Beckingham of the
United Kingdom, Dr. Jose Maria A.
Mariano, President of University of
Asia and the Pacific, Mr. Jarius
Bondoc, columnist for the Philippine
Star; and Dr. Milwida M. Guevara,
President and Chief Executive
Officer of Synergeia Foundation.
The judges interview one of the
finalists. With them are Metrobank

Ten (10) awardees will be selected
out of the 20 finalists: four from
the elementary level, four from the
secondary level and two from the
college level. The awardees will
receive their gold medallions from
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
during a reception at the Malacañang
Palace on August 30. Formal awarding
ceremonies will be held in Metrobank
Plaza on September 2 as the
highlight of Metrobank’s 43rd
anniversary celebration.
Winners will get a cash prize of Php
200,000 each. They will also receive
medals and trophies.
Since 1985, the Search for
Outstanding Teachers has given honor
to the teaching profession by
recognizing Filipino teachers who
devote their lives to the
development of the youth with
exemplary competence and dedication,
and who best serve as models of
excellence. |
