THE SEARCH FOR OUTSTANDING SOLDIERS OF 2010 BEGINS
The Metrobank Foundation, Inc., Rotary Club of Makati Metro and the Armed Forces of the Philippines renewed their commitment to further strengthen the professionalism in the military service with the signing of tripartite Memorandum of Agreement in conducting the Search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS).

The general public gets to meet the soldier-innovator, soldier-lawyer, soldier-engineer, soldier-nurse, soldier-doctor and soldier-civil military operative”, Metrobank Foundation president Aniceto M. Sobrepeña said.
AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Victor S. Ibrado expressed his full support to the competition as it promotes commitment to the soldiers’ sworn duty. “TOPS further encourage excellence and dedicated service among our personnel, I am very sure that the country will never run out of this kind of people in the military service,” stated Gen. Ibrado.
Over 70 high ranking officials from the AFP and the PNP witnessed the MOA signing, which was held during the AFP-PNP Command Conference on Internal Security Operations in Camp Aguinaldo.
TOPS is a nationwide search that honors the career achievements of gallant officers and enlisted personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, as well as the Technical Services.
Nominees for TOPS must have a minimum service record of seven (7) years and should have displayed courage, integrity and responsibility in performing their duties in the fields of combat, community service and technical service. Each awardee will receive a trophy and cash prize of P250,000.
Now on its 15th year, TOPS has already named 116 awardees, among them are six generals, namely BGen. Pedro Ramon Sinajon (1999), BGen. William Campos (2003), BGen. Renato Lorenzo Sanchez (1995), BGen. Cesario Atienza (2002), BGen. Lino Horacio Lapinid (1997), and MGen. Juancho Sabban (2003).
