The
2005 Search for The
Outstanding Philippine Soldiers
(TOPS)
TOPS Search Sets Off to Cebu
After successfully launching the
2005 Search for Outstanding
Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) through
the signing of a Memorandum of
Agreement last April 5, 2005, the
Metrobank Foundation,
Rotary
Club of Makati Metro (RCMM) and
the Armed Forces of the Philippines
are now accepting applications from
qualified soldiers.
To heighten the awareness of the
public and likewise bring the search
closer to the soldiers, the
organizers carry out information
campaign in select AFP Camps in the
country. The first round of campaign
saw its way at the AFP Northern
Command at Camp Servillano Aquino in
Tarlac last May 6, 2005.
On May 20, 2005, the information
campaign team of Mr. Roy Rafols,
RCMM President Elect, Maj. Natalio
Jayson and Sgt. Jonathan Domingo of
the Office of J1 of the AFP, will
conduct the campaign at the AFP
Central Command at Camp Lapu-Lapu in
Cebu City. Presentations,
discussions and a testimonial of a
former TOPS Awardee are highlights
in the campaigns.
The TOPS Award aims to encourage and
recognize examples of personal and
professional excellence as well as
outstanding records of
accomplishment of service and
achievement among the country's
military personnel. The Search also
looks closely into the nominee's
personal character, professional
training, and contribution to the
advancement of the public good.
Winners will be chosen for their
career achievements in the entirety
of their military service. Those who
have at least seven years of service
in the military are eligible to join
the search. The TOPS search will
choose two (2) outstanding
Non-Commissioned Officers and one
(1) outstanding Commissioned Officer
from the three branches of the AFP
and one (1) awardee from the
Technical Services.
Starting this year, each Awardee
will receive a cash prize of P150,
000 (increased from P100, 000 last
year) plus a trophy courtesy of the
Metrobank Foundation.
Deadline of submission of
nominations is on June 17, 2005. For
