Metrobank Foundation and Chiang Kai Shek College Holds Business Literacy Forum


To encourage entrepreneurship among Chinese-Filipino migrant students and to further educate them on how-to’s in starting a business in the country, the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) and Chiang Kai Shek College (CKS) recently held a two-day business expo and seminar entitled, “Business Literacy Program (Legalizing Business)”.

Chinese-Filipino entrepreneurship students of Chiang Kai Shek College Faculty of Business, Arts and Sciences participated in the business expo and seminar. Student-initiated businesses from the college participated in the booth displays selling wide range of products from food, merchandise, and souvenir items.

The business forum seminar focused on four basic modules in starting a business: Legal Environment, Business Registration and Taxation, Labor Laws and Employment Standards, Laws on Persons, Status, Residency and Immigration. Atty. Danny Chan a lecturer from the Ateneo de Manila University; Atty. Peter Kho from the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and Atty. Chin Chih Lin served as resource speakers.

In his message, MBFI executive director Nicanor L. Torres, Jr. says “We are grateful for this partnership with Chiang Kai Shek College for this project realizes the vision of our group chairman, Dr. George S.K. Ty - to become an inspiration to upcoming business leaders. This seminar-training aims to impart knowledge in making their (Chinese-Filipino community) business grown and compliant to the Philippine laws. We, in the Metrobank Foundation, believe that each successful business will help uplift their lives.”
