Metrobank Group heeds PGMA’s call,
donates P5M

METROPOLITAN Bank and Trust Company
(Metrobank), the largest bank in the
country, today heeded the call of
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
for the private sector to help in
the Administration’s massive efforts
to meet the humanitarian needs of
the victims of the Leyte mudslide.
Metrobank chairman Dr. George S.K.
Ty organized the Metrobank Group in
collectively raising P5 million for
the Leyte Rehabilitation Fund. With
this contribution, Metrobank would
like to help not only on the search
and rescue operation but also in the
challenge of rehabilitation and
reconstruction of the lives of the
survivors.
Toyota Motors Philippines gave P2
million, Toyota Autoparts
Philippines P1 million, and
Metrobank Card Corporation another
P1 million today at the Malacañan
Palace directly to Her Excellency
President Arroyo. This donation is
on top of the
P1 million previously given by
Metrobank Foundation, through its
executive vice president and
executive director Mr. Aniceto
Sobrepeña, to President Arroyo last
February 22, 2006.

Ceremonies were Toyota Motors
Philippines (TMP) vice chairman Mr.
Alfred Ty, TMP president Mr. Hiroshi
Ito, TMP senior vice president Engr.
Serafin Pantaleon, Toyota Auto Parts
president Mr. Yasuhiro Takeuchi,
MetrobankCard Corporation president
Ms. Anne Young, and Sobrepeña of the
Metrobank Foundation.
The donations of the Metrobank Group
is a continuing testament of the
Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company
to philanthropy and in some way
contributing to the mitigation of
the plight in Leyte. |
