Metrobank Foundation Awards Prizes
to 2005 TOWER Awardees

In the recently concluded 2005 The
Outstanding Workers of the Republic
(TOWER) Awards at the Makati
Shangri-La Hotel, the Metrobank
Foundation honored the Awardees
through a cash award of P50,000 each
to the nine winners for a total of
P450,000.
Together with Executive Vice
President Mrs. Elvira Ong Chan,
President Dr. Placido Mapa, Jr.
handed over the grant to the nine
winners of the search. In the past 5
years, the Foundation served as a
co-presentor to the TOWER Awards
together with the Rotary Club of
Makati. The Foundation allots half a
million pesos as cash prizes for a
maximum of ten awardees each year.

In his speech, Dr. Mapa lauded the
efforts of the awardees for their
skills and ethics in the workplace.
He cited that since year 2000, the
Metrobank Foundation have partnered
with the Rotary Club of Manila in
honoring unsung yet outstanding men
and women in the workforce, who can
serve as models of excellence.
The Awards aim to recognize the
contribution of blue-collar workers,
who constitute the backbone of the
country’s industries, to the
country’s economic development. |
