Education

Metrobank Foundation promotes quality education at all levels in recognition of the critical role of education in nation building and social development.

Search for Outstanding Teachers
The Search for Outstanding Teachers (SOT) honors examples of professionalism and commitment to the teaching profession. In 1986 and 1999, the Search was honored with an Anvil Award by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.

College Scholarship Program
Since 1995, the Foundation has implemented scholarship grants to poor and deserving students through various national college scholarship programs. The educational assistance benefit students enrolled in Education, Engineering, Science and Business-related courses from some 30 of the country's top colleges and universities.

Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge
The Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge is an annual  national math competition designed to encourage greater interest in math and provide an opportunity for elementary and high school students to further hone their mathematical skills. The competition is undertaken with he Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) and the Department of Education.

The Foundation also supports various education-related initiatives of the government and other NGOs. through the years, MBFI has supported projects of the Department of Education such as the Adopt-A-School Project, donation of PCs and school desks for public schools, among others. The foundation also funds training programs for teachers' conferences, skills training, and literacy programs.

Health Care

Since 1979, MBFI has contributed to the improvement of health care delivery through the Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH). The Foundation annually provides a budget of P6 million for the social service programs of the MDH, which include medical missions and outreach projects. A comprehensive health intervention program dubbed as "Sama-sama sa Malusog na Barangay or SMB" is being implemented in the Hospital's adopted community in Pasay City. Scholarship grants are also provided at the Manila Doctors College, the educational arm of the Hospital, for poor and deserving students to prepare the country's health professionals. 

Visual Arts

In 2004, the Metrobank Foundation embarked on a new arts program dubbed as the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE). In addition to young talented painters, MADE will also recognize the outstanding  works of sculptors, architects and interior designers. As such, MADE aims to provide a venue for talented artists in various disciplines to express their creativity and provide them with incentives to further hone their craft. The program also provides financial assistance to past winners as well as to selected art organizations for related projects t\hat contribute to greater arts education and appreciation.

Grants

The Foundation extends grants and maintains a network of partnerships with socio-civic organizations all over the country. These organizations have established credible track records in social development work. The Foundation assists them further upgrade their capability to carry out their respective mission. Organizations with interventions parallel to the Foundation's primary program thrusts, namely, education, healthcare, the arts and recognition programs for selected members of key sectors of society are given priority in the allocation of grant fund.

Excellence Awards

In 1999, new excellence awards programs were established as part of Chairman Ty's additional endowment worth P1.2 Billion under the Gift of Gratitude Program. Designed to honor and recognize professionalism among the ranks of military and police personnel, the awards also aim to promote excellence as a work ethic. For these programs, the Foundation partnered with the Rotary Club of Makati Metro for the search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) and the Rotary Club of New Manila East for the search for the Country's Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS).
