
DEPED signs implementing rules and regulations for National Teachers’ Day (NTD) law
Department of Education (DepEd) secretary Br. Armin Luistro, FSC (seated, center) signs the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 10743 or “An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as the National Teachers’ Day” at the 14th Meeting of the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council (NTMCC) held at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Department of Education, Pasig City.
RA 10743 formally institutionalizes the celebration of National Teachers’ Day on October 5 to be led by DepEd as well as encourages “all heads of government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned and -controlled corporations, especially those that are dealing with teachers, including local government units, and employers in the private sector” to join in the culminating celebration of the National Teachers’ Month (NTM) ─ held from September 5 to October 5 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 242 (s. 2011).

The Philippines holds the recognition as the only country in the world that celebrates teachers for an entire month.
