Metrobank Foundation Sustains Winning Streak in the Philippine Quill: Program for Public Servants Nominated to the Top Award

The “2021 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos (OF)” recognition program was nominated for the Top Division Award at the recent 19th Philippine Quill Awards. Garnering the Excellence award, the OF is a career-service award that recognizes the persistent work of exemplary teachers, soldiers, and police officers, especially during a national crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. The award was given during the virtual awarding ceremony held last August 18, 2022.

Organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, the Philippine Quill is “the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication.” The award is given to an outstanding communication research, programs, skills, and creative work.

Another program of MBFI which received an Excellence award is “The Great LEAP: A Pandemic Employee Engagement Program” led by the Human Resources Unit of MBFI. The program was established to improve all facets of employee wellness—from establishing new office protocols to conducting engaging activities.

Meanwhile, two communication tools developed by MBFI was also bestowed with the Excellence award. The first one is the “2020 Metrobank-MTAP-Math Challenge (MMC) Learn@Home,” a social media campaign established to address the shift from a classroom to an online learning environment. By organizing webinars and sharing drills, flashcards, anecdotes, and curated content, the campaign has inspired a captive audience to learn about mathematics.

The second one is “Keeping Hope Alive” Metrobank Foundation 2020 Annual Report, a publication which showcases how the institution nimbly devoted its resources to helping combat COVID-19. More than a presentation of data, narratives, and visuals, the report aims to inspire its readers to hold on to hope amid extreme vulnerability and uncertainty.

MBFI was also given two Merit awards for “Puso at Sigasig” Metrobank Foundation 2019 Annual Report and “#MADEatHome: Art Education Online.” The annual report is a comprehensive and visually powerful account of the organization’s unrelenting drive towards social development. It is an ode to the human connections created and nurtured by the Filipino’s heart and zeal for his countrymen.

#MADEatHome, on the other hand, is a social media program initiated in lieu of the 2020 Metrobank Art & Design Excellence Recognition Program’s activities. Executed on Facebook and Instagram, #MADEAtHome implemented online activities that promotes Philippine visual arts and culture.

Finally, the family foundation of the late Metronbank Group founder and chairman Dr. George Ty Siao Kian, the GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI), also received a Merit award for the 2021 Bags of Blessing (BOB). In its ninth year, the program was reimagined to adapt to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by distributing 18,000 bags of food items worth PHP 1,000 to 18,000 indigent families in 33 sites nationwide through a voucher system implemented in partnership with the National Secretariat for Social Action/Caritas Philippines and Robinsons Supermarket.

MBFI has been winning the Philippine Quill awards since 2002. To date, it has won over 65 Quill awards for its various public relations programs and tools, including the Top Division Award for its 2019 Annual Report entitled “Puso at Sigasig” in 2021.
