A Heart that Serves Extends a Giving Hand: Metrobank Foundation celebrates 45th year through an Outreach

In keeping with its legacy of giving back, Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) continued to celebrate its 45th anniversary, this time with its most important stakeholders—the members of the community that they serve. Together with the GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI) and in partnership with the Tahanan ng Panginoon (TNP), an affiliate of Ligaya ng Panginoon, MBFI went to Barangay Pansol in Quezon City not just to distribute food packs but also spend time with the residents there.

Participated by 100% of MBFI’s workforce, the outreach activity benefited 400 families in the barangay. Each household received a bag containing rice, spaghetti sauce, cheese, noodles, and canned goods.

MBFI employees were moved by the warm smiles from the residents of Barangay Pansol. They went back to work with their hearts full of joy and renewed strength to continue serving more Filipino communities.

“When I learned that some of the community members—even when they also need it—decided to give their share of food packs to others, I was reminded that faith and love is about being selfless,” shared Cindy Mangaya, MBFI program officer.

“We’re lucky to be part of an organization that gives back. But I feel that the residents of Brgy. Pansol blessed us more. We’re inspired by their positive and grateful disposition in life. They are a testament that generosity is a matter of the heart,” MBFI Executive Vice President Philip Dy shared.

Recently, MBFI also donated food packs in three other TNP areas in Barangay Loyola Heights and Cubao in Quezon City, and in Barangay Cogeo in Antipolo, reaching a total of 600 families.

Established by a philanthropist, Dr. George S. K. Ty, a heart for community has been instilled in each member of the foundation. Living up to the theme of their 45th year, “A Heart that Serves”, MBFI takes pride in dedicating its efforts to the empowerment of others, knowing that nation-building becomes an easy task when all hearts are working together towards its fulfillment. This has been MBFI’s mission since 1979.

Previously, MBFI commemorated its 45th year with exceptional individuals from its roster of scholars and Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino awardees, as well as with its organizational partners through a recognition program. MBFI also celebrated this milestone with its employees, honoring the internal partners who were instrumental in helping realize its mission of corporate philanthropy.

“It was the corporate vision of our founder, Dr. George S. K. Ty, that the Metrobank conglomerate would pursue nation-building by serving the people in the communities. This is set down in the core values of the Metrobank Group,” said MBFI President Aniceto M. Sobrepeña

“At MBFI, we celebrate milestones by serving and honoring people who have been an indispensable part of our success. And service always extends a giving hand. It’s a humbling experience to be used by the Lord to give blessings to others,” Sobrepeña added. #
