Bucket List for Teachers at the 2024 Manila International Book Fair

In celebration of the National Teachers’ Month (NTM), Primetrade Asia, one of NTM partners, is giving teachers a free pass to their Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) running from September 11 to 15, 2024 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay. A number of the book fair exhibitors are also offering perks to teachers in appreciation for their role in nurturing the youth who are the future leaders of our country.

“The Manila International Book Fair is committed to supporting our educators who shape the minds and futures of our country’s youth. This is our way of honoring their invaluable contribution to fostering a literate and empowered nation” said Irene Lloren, President of Primetrade Asia, Inc., MIBF organizer.

“Beyond expressing gratitude to teachers, the National Teachers’ Month celebration has become a platform for stakeholders to address the teachers’ needs. Continuous learning is essential, especially for teachers, and we are thankful to our NTM partners and MIBF for providing exclusive deals on educational resources for our teachers,” said Aniceto Sobrepeña, Metrobank Foundation President and NTM Coordinating Council chairperson.

In addition to a vast selection of books across all genres and special discounts, teachers can enjoy an exciting lineup of talks and forums on educational tools, teaching strategies, and teacher wellness at the book fair.

Images make concepts engaging and easier to understand and remember. To equip teachers to use illustrated stories to tell their own, Kawangis Komiks will hold a talk on comics as an educational tool on September 11, 1-2 pm. This segment will be a delight to those who value Filipino culture and spirit expressed and preserved through art.

Mental health advocate Ms. Amelia De-Chavez Pagdanganan, also known as Lolakwentosera, will also be there to share her best ideas on building a support system for teachers and school personnel. Listen to her own story of struggle and success on September 11, 2 PM.

Also fueling our love for learning is the Council for People’s Development and Governance (CPDG). They are hosting a forum for teachers who work closely with indigenous peoples. On September 14, 12 NN, join the country’s most courageous educators in their journey to bring learning to everyone’s doorsteps.

Discover the best publishers, authors and illustrators by participating in different awarding ceremonies at MIBF. Strike gold with Gintong Aklat Awards on Sept. 11, 4 PM. This biennial event by the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP) awards the best of the best in the local publishing industry since 1981.

Initially called the Catholic Author’s Awards by the Asian Catholic Publishers, Inc. founded by the late Archbishop of Manila Cardinal Jaime L. Sin, the Cardinal Sin Book Awards is set on September 12, 3-5 PM. This awards program premiered in October of 2007 with Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc. (ACCI), picking out the best works in spirituality, ministry, liturgy, homiletics, family life, youth, children, inspiration, e-books, and theology.

Cheer for your favorite authors at the National Children’s Book Awards on September 14, 4 PM. Watch out also for the awarding of the coveted Lampara Prize of the renowned children’s book publisher, Lampara Books, happening on September 13, 1:30 PM.
