Metrobank Group Marks National Day of Charity with Impactful Initiatives

Answering the call of “Kawanggawa Para sa Kapwa,” Metrobank Group subsidiaries marked the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)’s first-ever National Day of Charity on October 30, 2024, with a wave of impactful initiatives across the country.

From nourishing bodies to nurturing minds, Metrobank’s subsidiaries demonstrated their Heart for Community in diverse ways.

Meanwhile, Manila Doctors Hospital took to social media with “ElekShow,” a creative comic series promoting voter education and responsible civic engagement.

Sumisho Motor Finance Corporation’s League of Volunteer Employees (LOVE) brought smiles and sustenance to children at the Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas, Inc. with a feeding program, milk donations, and an engaging book-reading activity.

Federal Land, Inc. reinforced its dedication to empowering families through initiatives focused on supplemental feeding, providing nourishing meals to hundreds of students since July 2024, and community-based livelihood training on soap-making in partnership with TESDA Provincial Training Center-Paliparan in Cavite, building pathways to a brighter future for communities.

Toyota Financial Services Philippines celebrated National Teachers’ Month with a visit to Bitik Elementary School and Doña Paz Elementary School in Tanay, Rizal on October 3, 2024. Recognizing the dedication of teachers who travel long and rough roads to reach their students, Toyota Financial Services volunteers provided them with essential personal items and valuable school supplies. They also conducted a financial literacy talk, empowering educators and supporting their vital role in shaping the future.

Manila Tytana Colleges rallied to the aid of Typhoon Kristine victims, organizing a vital food repacking operation at the DSWD NROC in Pasay City. Volunteers, including those directly impacted by the typhoon, packed nearly a thousand food packs, embodying the spirit of unity and resilience.

Meanwhile, Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) swiftly mobilized its resources to provide crucial support to thousands of families affected by Typhoon Julian in September 2024 in Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Batanes, and Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in October 2024 in badly hit provinces in Albay, Batangas, and Camarines Sur. The Foundation committed a total of 12.5 million pesos and have partially distributed essential food packs and shelter repair materials to 8,459 families. To ensure efficient distribution of the much-needed support to the affected families, MBFI forged a strategic multi-sector partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, Manila Water Foundation, and MBFI Disaster Response Task Force members Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. and RMN Foundation, Inc. This collaborative effort enabled the foundation to reach the most vulnerable communities during their time of crisis.

“At Metrobank, our commitment to the community isn’t just a value, it’s the very heartbeat of our organization,” said MBFI President Aniceto M. Sobrepeña. “The National Day of Charity ignites the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ within each of us, reminding us that together, we can uplift lives and create a brighter future for all Filipinos.”
