Metrobank Foundation’s Philip Dy Conferred with 2025 Rotary Golden Wheel Award
Philip Francisco “Boyet” Dy, executive vice president of the Metrobank Foundation (MBFI), was honored with the prestigious 2025 Rotary Golden Wheel Award for Community Development at a ceremony held at Seda Vertis North on February 9, 2025. This distinguished award, presented by Rotary International District 3780, recognizes Dy’s exceptional contributions to community development, outstanding leadership, innovative approaches to tackling development issues, and deep commitment to social responsibility.
“Boyet” is one of the 11 outstanding leaders from public and private sectors to receive this recognition this year, the list of which includes Senator Risa Hontiveros, UP President Angelo A. Jimenez, PNP Chief PGEN Romel Francisco D. Marbil, among others. He was selected for his passion, excellence, and significant service to the community, and for exemplifying Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” and the “Four-Way Test” of ethics. Since assuming leadership roles at both MBFI and GT Foundation in 2022, Dy has steered numerous impactful initiatives focused on health, education, arts, livelihood, and disaster response.
With years of experience in community development nationally and internationally, the former associate director of the Asian Institute of Management TeaM Energy – Center for Bridging Leadership (AIM-TEC) has been instrumental in helping develop leaders who mobilize stakeholders to collaboratively address development issues. His vision and dedication have not only improved lives but also fostered unity and progress within the communities he serves. His previous experience includes serving as manager of the Disaster Net Project of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, where he focused on strengthening community-based disaster preparedness and response in the Philippines. He later served as chief of staff during Atty. Maria Leonor G. Robredo’s tenure as the 14th Vice President of the Philippines.
“This year’s Golden Wheel Awardees are the manifestations of our time-honored values of passion, excellence, and service as espoused in the Rotary Wheel,” said Milo G. Lucenario, district governor of Rotary International District 3780. “They were selected for their lasting and meaningful impact in their respective communities, the length and degree of their service, the extent of their service which goes above and beyond the call of duty, and the extent to which their actions were recognized and valued by their peers and the community,” Lucenario emphasized.
Reflecting on the award, Dy said, “I dedicate this award to the collaborative spirit of my passionate colleagues at the Metrobank Foundation, GT Foundation, and our valued social development and community partners. We all share the vision of our late Metrobank Group founder and chairman, Dr. George S.K. Ty, and believe that through dedication and compassion, we can create lasting positive impact in the communities we serve. I also extend my gratitude to the Rotary Club of New Manila East for nominating me and Rotary International District 3780 screening and selection committees for recognizing my contributions in community development and in nation-building.”
The MBFI Executive Vice President now joins hundreds of distinguished roster of Rotary Golden Wheel Award honorees in the country, including MBFI president Aniceto “Chito” Sobrepeña, who received the award in 2013 for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Sobrepeña’s pioneering work in CSR helped establish MBFI as one of the largest and most accomplished non-profit organizations in the Philippines.
Dy graduated from the development studies program of the Ateneo de Manila University in 2006 and received a master’s degree in public policy in 2015 from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
