Bags of Blessing

“Giving back” has always been part of the philanthropic philosophy of Metrobank Group founder and chairman Dr. George Ty, which are manifested in the different programs and projects being undertaken by Metrobank Foundation and GT Foundation, the Ty family Foundation. One of such projects is the Bags of Blessing, a nationwide gift-giving activity held every Chinese New Year (CNY) as a way of carrying out the Metrobank Group’s tradition of sharing.

Instead of “ang-paos,” which are red envelopes containing cash being exchanged every CNY, red bags containing PHP 1,000 worth of assorted food items are distributed to 10,000 underprivileged families in different areas nationwide.

Since the project was launched in 2011, GTFI has worked with the Metrobank Group of Companies, GT Capital Holdings, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and the Roman Catholic Church in various cities and municipalities all over the country.
