Metrobank Foundation, Philippine Association of National Advertisers Foundation Challenge Future Marketers

To help train future marketers on responsible brand communications, the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) and the Philippine Association of National Advertisers Foundation (PANAF) conducted a Strategic Communications Challenge among schools that topped the 2023 PANAnaw Awards Competition—the annual Brand Communications Students’ Competition managed by PANAF. The purpose of the challenge is to encourage the winning schools to further their knowledge and skills by working on real-life corporate communication cases.

Eight schools participated in the activity where they prepared communication strategies for the two identified programs of MBFI—the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos – Awards for Teachers and the National Teachers’ Month. Participating university teams were from the Ateneo de Davao, De La Salle-Benilde Antipolo, National University-Manila, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, San Beda University, University of Makati, University of the Philippines (UP) Tacloban, and UP Visayas.

“To have generated creative ideas for the nation’s highest award-giving body and nationwide campaign for teachers is an honor I would not forget. It has pushed me beyond my comfort zone and allowed me to grow and thrive as a student and future marketer. Truly, it was a humbling experience and I hope there will be more opportunities like these for students to give back to our educators using their God-given talents,” shared Nina Francesca Rivas from the University of the Philippines Visayas.

The school teams were given two months to craft implementable marketing communication campaigns and prepare for a culminating online presentation to a distinguished panel of judges consisting of representatives from MBFI, PANAF, and the Department of Education (DepEd).

“Ultimately, the MBFI-PANAF Strategic Communications Challenge has been an invaluable experience, enriching my understanding of real-life corporate scenarios while sharpening my ability to craft effective communication strategies and campaigns. It has provided me with practical insights and hands-on experience that will undoubtedly prove instrumental in my future endeavors. This journey has been nothing short of surreal, and the lessons learned and memories made will forever hold a special place in my heart,” shared Prince Enriquez from the National University-Manila.

Participants from San Beda University bagged the Award of Excellence for Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos—Awards for Teachers.

The best presentations were announced and recognized on April 30, 2024 at the Penthouse of the Manila Doctors Hospital in Ermita, Manila. The overall champion making the best case presentation is UP Visayas, receiving the Pinnacle Award of Excellence. San Beda University bagged the Award of Excellence for Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos, while the National University-Manila earned the Award of Excellence for National Teachers’ Month.

Students from the National University-Manila received the Award of Excellence for National Teachers’ Month.

“We aim to support college students, our next marketers and communicators, to prepare for real-life corporate case scenarios with opportunities to apply the concepts they learn in school. Through these challenges, it is our aspiration to be a venue in cultivating students of marketing and communication who are fully prepared for professional employment,” said MBFI President Aniceto Sobrepeña.
